Curtains in a Basalt Palace
McArthur-Burney Falls flows over a basalt cliff and plunges in two main cataracts 129 feet into a deep pool at its base. Across the basalt face of the cliff on either side of the main falls, thousands of rivulets issue through the porous rock from rain and snowmelt fed aquifers. The result is a lacy array of fairy falls and plant life.
